(Pre-script: This post is best paired with the song "Talk," by Coldplay. Go down to the playlist, click on that song, then come back and continue reading. I'll wait...) (...still waiting...)
Y'all, tonight I was in the kitchen, innocently measuring the coffee for tomorrow morning, thinking about the itch on my shoulder, or the fly on the wall, or some such deep thoughts as per usual to my way of thinking, when I overheard a conversation between Derek and Kristina* that sounded something like this:
Kristina: "Woh woh woh woh woh woh woh "wires" Woh woh woh woh woh woh woh "filaments..."
Me, interrupting: "What are you guys talking about?"
D and K together:"Light bulbs."
Me:"Did she just say "filaments..."
D and K, together:"Yeah."
Me: "...and knew what she was talking about?"
D and K: "Yeah."
Me:"She's explaining how light bulbs work?"
but by this point, they were back to being too engrossed in their shared technological brilliance to comprehend my existence.
Y'all, if I don't want these two to think that the coffee just magically appears each morning, I'd better start getting used to the idea of growing a hunchback and a pronounced limp from carrying around the huge Collegiate Webster's Dictionary everywhere I go.
In the meantime,:
"Woh woh, woh woh, woh woh woh woh."
*Y'all, the girl won't even be 9 until next month. What am I going to do?!?
