My Grandchildren are...

Not existant. Yet. If ever they will be. But I've already made a major decision to be carried out at such a time as such an as yet still imaginary grandchild comes into being. My decision is this...I will never, never get a bumper sticker, button, t-shirt, etc. that says anything like "My Grandchildren are cuter than yours." Now, I know that these items exist in good fun, that the grandparents get a good chuckle out of them. They might even give each other a little nudge and say "Oh, look at that. Well, Mabel obviously hasn't seen my newest grandbaby Bucky." as they proceed to pull out a billfold with 572 pictures of Bucky spilling out. Now, I am all for the billfold with the 572 pictures; I think that is a right of grandparenthood. But I wish that the grandparents could just stick to applying bumper stickers that instead read something like this: "Boy, do I love my grandchildren." or even "I love my grandkids." But the ones that signify that someone's grandchildren are better than someone elses? I can't stand those. Why does it have to be a competition? Why can't the grandparents just relate to each other on that note, and share stories about how becoming a grandparent has changed their lives, how if they had known what fun it was, they'd have skipped having kids and gone straight to the grandkids....hee hee hee, hardy har har, snort, nudge nudge and a knee slap.
