The nature of Jesus

This morning, I stepped up onto the stepmill, plugged my earphones in, and a song by Maroon 5 was playing. When you plug your earphones in and a Maroon 5 song is playing you are bound to have a fabulous workout. I don't remember what song it was, but it reminded me of my favorite Maroon 5 song, "She will be loved." When I hear the chorus of this song, I feel like I am hearing a portion of the heart of Jesus: "I don't mind spending every day out on a corner in the pouring rain, look for the girl with the broken smile, and ask her if she wants to stay awhile, and she will be loved, she will be loved, she will be loved, she will be loved..."It reminds me of the Samaritan woman Jesus met at the well, and the woman who washed Jesus' feet with her tears. It reminds me of this verse :"...her many sins have been forgiven-for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little."Luke 7:47.
While the Maroon 5 song was playing, I looked up at one of the TV screens that was playing CNN, and the caption at the bottom said that 125,000 gorillas have been found, and I guess that takes them off of the endangered species list. I think I laughed out loud. That is a lot of gorillas to not be aware of. But I am thrilled, because the environment needs to be protected and taken care of. My parents have a book at their house (they have many books at their house, some with the most random titles you will ever see) about animals that are now extinct. The idea that there once were animals living on the planet that no longer exist here is haunting. I'm saddened that there are no longer any Dodo birds, for example. Genesis 2:15 "The Lord God took man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and take care of it." This is His earth that He created, after all. (And I tend to believe that any naturally occuring food is good for us to eat. I have never trusted diets that don't allow for, oh, FRUIT, for example.)
When the Maroon 5 song ended, a Bette Midler song came on, "From A Distance." This song has a pretty tune, and while I like her idea that if we could see the big picture we would be able to get along better, I think she' s mistaken God for an astronaut or a satellite when she says "God is watching us from a distance." because while I agree that He can view the world from any vantage point He wants, He's not so distant as the song implies. "...I am with you ALWAYS, to the very end of the age."**-Jesus.

*The first two paragraphs are not related, except that they happened in sequetial order. I am not comparing women to gorillas.
**Matthew 28:20

I always feel slightly guilty for listening to secular music, even though I enjoy it so much. I admire you at finding a way to see God in such secular songs. How amazing that your focus remains on Him. Inspirational! I'm loving your blog by the way. You truly keep the reader interested and its neat to get to know you better!
